Nike denies Eagles Michael Vick Endorsement Deal

by Abe Luciano on Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Nike denies Eagles Michael Vick Endorsement Deal: Less than a day after Philadelphia Eagles Michael Vick’s agent announced to have made a deal with Nike, the company said ‘not so fast’. Nike went public and cleared things up by stating that they do not have any "contractual relationship" with the controversial quarterback.

After defeating the Kansas City Chiefs last week, the Eagles will be enjoying a much-needed Bye week. Going into the NFL’s Week 4, the Philadelphia Eagles [15/1] are currently listed with the 12th best sports betting odds to win the 2010 Super Bowl XLIV in Miami, Florida. As far as the sports betting odds to win the 2010 NFC Championship is concerned, the Philadelphia Eagles [7/1] are fifth best behind New Orleans, New York, Minnesota and Chicago.

On Thursday morning, Nike ended all speculation by specifying that the company has "agreed to supply product to Michael Vick as we do a number of athletes who are not under contract with Nike".

When Vick came into the league as a high-touted franchise player, Nike immediately signed him to a deal in 2001. However, Nike withdrew from having any ties to Vick after he accepted a guilty plea agreement in return for lesser time in his involvement in a dogfighting ring in 2007.
