College Football Picks Week 5

College Football Picks Week 5: Picking College Football Odds double-digit favorites is risky business. It's my opinion that betting double-digit favorites anywhere is risky regardless of the venue and especially road favs. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule, but in most cases I think it holds true. On the other hand I've been burned many times by wagering against certain schools because of wide point-spreads. Boise State is one of those; allthough they did not cover as -24 favorites versus Tulsa in Week 4, a game I chose to pass on.

College Football Picks Week 5So here we are in Week-5 and again Boise State is listed a big double-digit favorite. I guess if you're favored to win by four touchdowns that qualifies as big. Versus Nevada today (2:30 p.m. ET, CBSSN) the Broncos opened as 28-chalk favorites over old WAC nemesis Nevada. It seems that Boise State is always listed four touchdown favorites; probably because of  their relatively weak schedule. Now as I said; I often get burned in these games, but I'm going with averages and picking the Wolf Pack Plus-28.

No. 7 Wisconsin hosts No. 8 Nebraska in a huge Big Ten battle at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison tonight (8:00 P.M. ET, ABC). The game is also the Huskers Big Ten debut. And if predictions experts are correct; these two might be playing again in the Big Ten Championship game in December. Today however, the Huskers are underdogs by +10. I have picked Wisconsin to cover and there's a reason. I have not been impressed by Nebraska, a team 4-0 SU, but only 1-3 ATS. Wisconsin on the other hand is 3-1 ATS. Camp Randall is as hostile a venue that exists in college football and on top of that; I feel the Huskers are a little overrated. I might regret it but I'm standing by the Badgers -10.

Georgia Tech hits the road for a ACC battle up in Raleigh, N.C. versus NC State. Here is one of those double-digit road favs that I like; Yellow Jackets giving -10. I scored big last week betting against the Wolfpack at -7 at Cincinnati. The Bearcats were grossley underlined in that one. The Yellow Jackets at -10 should be good for a cover. Georgia Tech -10 is my pick.

No. 12 Florida is taking on No. 2 Alabama down in the Swamp tonight (8:00 P.M.) on CBS. The Gators are seldom underdogs at home but trust me when I say; Alabama is extroadinarilly good. There defense is as good as it gets in college football and getting the Tide at -4 is a bargain. If Florida covers this spread it will be a great achievement. My pick is Alabama -4.

For my final College Football Odds pick of the day; I'm going with No. 18 Arkansas as a +2 1/2 underdog versus Texas A&M. The Aggies have not defeated a SEC team in six tries. Make it seven after today. Hogs cover +2 1/2.
