NFL Week 5 Predictions on the Chicago Bears vs Carolina Panthers Odds: The Carolina Panthers will try to get their first win of the season this Sunday when they host the overrated Chicago Bears, at 1 PM ET in a NFC non division battle. The Bears vs. Panthers NFL Point Spread have the Bears -2.5 at BETUS.com
The Bears (3-1) made their worst pathetic performance of the season in week 4 when they lost 17-3 against the NY Giants on a Sunday Night showdown. The worst part was the offensive line who got smoked by the Giants past rushing defense as they allowed 10 sacks in the game (9 in the first half). The beating QB Jay Cutler took was so brutal that he ended with a mild concussion at halftime but is expected to play on Sunday. Cutler threw for 42 yards and on interception against the Giants but overall he look awful in that game so I wouldn´t expect much from him against Carolina.
If the Panthers don´t make huge mistakes that could cost them the game, then they can pursuit their first win of the season. Keep in mind two of the three wins Chicago has so far were because they fed off the opponents mistakes.
Carolina is coming off a 16-14 loss against a NFC South rivals New Orleans Saints, rookie QB Jimmy Clausen threw for 146 yards and one score without making a mistake. He showed calm and security in the pocket against a defense that lives off turnovers and almost drive his team to an upset victory against the Champs, let´s give him some credit for that. "They were blitzing and I just couldn't get it out quick enough," Clausen said. Also Carolina WR Steve Smith left in the second half with a left ankle injury. "I'm just going to try to walk to the plane without too much pain and see how it feels during the week," he said.
Remember the Bears are 7-8 ATS in games where the line is +3 to -3 and 6-11 ATS in road games. The Panthers are 15-11 ATS when playing with 6 or less days rest.
