For the second time in three weeks the
overhyped Eagles blew a late lead, falling to the 49ers 24-23 at Lincoln Financial Field. Philadelphia finished the game with 23 first downs and 513 total yards while Michael Vick threw for 416 yards and rushed for 75 yards.
The Eagles offensive effort was ruined by two things: turnovers and a porous defense. Philadelphia coughed the ball up three times in the setback and the Niners, which rank 28th in the league in yards per game (270.8), racked up a season high 442 yards against Andy Reid's beleaguered defense. The Bills, coming off their first loss of the season – a 23-20 setback at Cincinnati, are certain to give Philly more fits on Sunday. Buffalo's Ryan Fitzpatrick led offense is averaging 33.2 points and 391.5 yards per game through four games. Chan Gailey's squad is also strong where the Eagles are weak, averaging 137 yards per game on the ground (Philadelphia gives up an average of 139.5 rush yards per game).
Buffalo's defense is no great shakes either, though. The Eagles should enjoy another prolific offensive day against the Bills, who are relinquishing 405 yards and 24 points per game on the season.
This is one of the weekend's more difficult games to take a side on, hence the one point spread; however, from a totals standpoint it looks like an Over all the way, even at 49.5 points. The average point total in Bills game this season: 57.3. Eagles games? 50.5.
