2011 NFL Picks Week 6

by Abe Luciano on Monday, October 10th, 2011

2011 NFL Picks Week 6: Five weeks of 2011 NFL action are gone just like that in the American Football Conference! Looking into the future, we’re beginning to get a sense for what teams are for real, and which are just pretenders in the AFC, as we near the midway point of the season. But don’t start making any premature conclusions just yet, people, because there’s still lots of football to be played in 2011.

Going into the 2011 NFL Picks Week 6, our current AFC Division leaders are: (4-1) Buffalo Bills and tied England Patriots in the East, (3-1) Baltimore Ravens lead the North, (3-2) Houston Texans and Tennessee lead the South and the (4-1) San Diego Chargers sit atop the West.

This week, those AFC teams missing in action due to Bye Week will be: (1-4) Broncos, (2-3) Chiefs, Chargers and Titans. Considering it is very early in Week 6, not all NFL Week 6 Betting Odds have been released just yet. However, a few of those have been composed and published, look very attractive early on.

Please keep in mind that the best time to bet on your favorite teams, at times, is when the initial opening lines are released. These NFL Odds are sometimes best because they are at its purest form, before any of the action affects them. At the present time, there are seven 2011 NFL Picks Week 6 games involving AFC teams:

The (1-4) Jacksonville Jaguars [+13] will be visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers [-13] on Sunday at 1 PM from Heinz Field. Big Ben & Co. are coming off a huge win over a Tennessee team that appeared to have found its groove. However, a 38-17 drumming will surely force them back to the drawing board. Also at 1 PM ET, the (0-5) Indianapolis Colts [+7] will be looking to make their first win of the season a road one, as they visit the (3-2) Cincinnati Bengals [-7]. Indy let a great opportunity to get rid of their goose egg last Sunday, but couldn’t close it out. After taking a 24-14 lead going into the break, the Colts were blanked out the rest of the way by the Chiefs, who came back to score 14 unanswered points.

One game to keep an eye out at 4 PM on Sunday will be the encounter between the (2-2) Cleveland Browns [+7] and the surprising (3-2) Oakland Raiders [-7]. In the franchise’s first game without longtime owner Al Davis watching, the Silver and Black pulled off a very emotional win on the road against a playoff team like the AFC South leading (3-2) Houston Texans.

The Raiders bend-but-don’t-break defense came up huge in the final seconds of the game. With Matt Schaub driving downfield with a chance to win the game with a touchdown, Michael Huff stepped in and sealed the game for the visiting Raiders. “Just Win Baby!” was the best way to describe Oakland’s efforts, as they absolutely came through with heavy hearts.

Here’s is the rest of the early 2011 NFL Picks Week 6 for the AFC:

Buffalo Bills [+3] vs New York Giants [-3]

Houston Texans [+6½] vs Baltimore Ravens [-6½]

Dallas Cowboys [+7] vs New England Patriots [-7]

Miami Dolphins [+7½] vs New York Jets [-7½]
