2010 NFL Week 6 Picks & NFL Odds: The recent allegations surrounding Viking’s quarterback, Brett Favre, have caught the attention of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The veteran quarterback is being accused of sending inappropriate photos and racy messages to Jenn Sterger, a former New York Jets hostess back in 2008. According to the Commissioner, they are still trying to get more information on the alleged incidents.
Once the accusations came to light on sports website Deadspin, the investigation started. The website posted the voicemails that are said to be from Favre, where he asks Sterger to meet up with him. They also had a video of the messages and pictures that were sent to her phone.
The photos are said to be photos of Favre below the waist. The Vikings quarterback has not answered any questions regarding these postings. If that were not enough, he is also being accused of going after two massage therapists, who at the time were working part-tome for the Jets.
“We’re just looking for facts now,” Goodell said at the meetings. “I am going to deal with it as we get the facts.”He also said that at the moment he does not need to meet with Favre, but did say: “…If it is something that would help us get to a conclusion and it is warranted, I will do so.”
If the accusations prove to be real, he could be penalized with a fine or even suspension because he would have broken the personal conduct policy. “One of the reasons we instituted the personal conduct policy … to make everyone understand their responsibilities,” Goodell said. “We’re not going down a line of speculation and hypothetical situations.” Things could not be going any worse for Favre, as the Vikings are now 1-3, including the tough loss on Monday night to the Jets. He currently has thrown seven interceptions this season alone, which is the total amount he had all of last season.
The (1-3-0) Minnesota Viking’s [-1½] next game will be on Sunday against the (1-3-0) Dallas Cowboys [+1½] in a battle of two teams looking to turn their respective seasons around before it’s too late.
