Clemson vs. Maryland 2011 College Football Odds Week 7: The Maryland Terrapins will be College Football Odds underdogs to No. 8(AP) Clemson when the teams get together for a college football game between Atlantic Division rivals Saturday at Byrd Stadium in College Park, Md. The Tigers come into the game riding a six-game winning streak and sitting atop the Atlantic Division standings with Wake Forest (3-0). The Terrapins, under first year coach Randy Edsall are 2-3 overall and 1-1 in league play. This is the second straight week the Terps have had to face a ranked opponent. Last week the Terps lost a close game to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Tigers are coming off a 34-14 victory over Boston College at Clemson Memorial Stadium. The game, to be televised on ESPNU, kicks off at 7 p.m. ET.

The Terps are lined +8 home underdogs to the Tigers for the game with a 53.5 combined score (over/under)total. Terps backers playing the moneyline hoping for a SU win are getting +250 ml odds while the price of a SU wager on the Tigers is -300.

The Tigers field leader is Sophomore quarterback Tajh Boyd who is currently 14th on the NCAA individual stats board averaging 310.3 yards per game. Boyd's favorite target is Freshman wide receiver Sammy Watkins. At No. 22 on the FBS stats board, Watkins averages 103.83 yards per game for the Tigers and has caught five passes for touchdowns. Watkins averages 16.39 yards per reception. Leading the ground game is tail back Andre Ellington who rankes 49th in the country averaging 89 per game. For the season, Ellington has toted the ball for 528 yards for an average of 4.19 yards per carry and has rushed for five touchdowns.

The Maryland offense averages 376.6 yards per game in total offense good enough for 78th on the FBS board. If the Terps have a weakness its on the defensive side of the ball ranked 84 out of 120 teams in Div-1 FBS allowing 407.2 yards per game. The Tigers are ranked 48th in total defense allowing 356.33 yards per game.

Maryland has had its ups and downs but has performed well at times. You can count on the Tigers getting their full attention for this one. I expect the Terps keep it close and cover as a +8 home underdog.
