Week 6 NFL Picks 2011: As teams make their final preparations for their Week 6 matchups, the (3-2) Oakland Raiders [-6½] have made a bold move at the linebacker position. Just a few days after acquiring former first round pick, Aaron Curry from the Seahawks, Hue Jackson has decided to name him the starter for Sunday’s game against the NFL Odds underdog (2-2) Cleveland Browns [+6½].
After being demoted from started to benchwarmer in Seattle, Curry was traded to Oakland. In true Al Davis
fashion, the Silver and Black accepted the struggling former 4th overall pick with open arms. Get $50 in Free NFL Picks Here!
“It’s been very eventful, very exciting,” Curry said. “Just to know that Coach has faith in me that I can come in and play right away is a great confidence-booster for me, just to know that he believes in me.”
If the Raiders hope to get into the postseason by winning the division or otherwise, they’re going to desperately need help at that position. I believe their defense will get a big boost just from the 6’2”, 255-pound, Curry, being in the starting rotation in place of Quentin Groves. Jackson, who told Curry to leave his problems in the past, also seems to believe this kid will be a great addition to the club.
“I don’t get into what all happened wherever he was,” said the Raiders first-year head coach. “I brought him here for a reason and he’s going to play. I didn’t bring him here to look at him to figure it out or anything like that. He’s the starting Will (linebacker) on this football team, period.”
My Week 6 NFL Picks 2011 for the Browns vs Raiders: I think the Raiders turned a corner with last week’s huge victory over the Houston Texans. I think that after so many miserable years, this is finally the time that the Silver and Black will begin to rise in the AFC West once again. I not only expect Curry to make an immediate impact on this team, but I also predict he will be instrumental in Oakland winning its Division and getting into the playoffs.
