2011 NFL Predictions Week 7: Just when you thought things had settled down, there’s a quarterback controversy in the nation’s capital. No starting quarterback has been announced for Sunday’s game when the (3-2) Washington Redskins [+1½] pay a visit to Cam Newton and the NFL Betting Odds favorites, (1-5) Carolina Panthers [-1½].
After naming veteran Rex Grossman the opening day starter over John Beck, Mike Shanahan mike be going through a change of heart. Grossman was removed from last week’s, 20-13, loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, after 
throwing his fourth interception, a career-high for him in a single game.
Beck came ion and led the Skins to one touchdown drive in the fourth quarter. However, by then, the game had already been decided. Nonetheless, Shanahan still has a decision to make about who will line up under center against the Panthers this week. On Monday, the three-time Super Bowl champ — two as head coach once as offensive coordinator — told reporters he still hadn’t made a decision about his starter.
“I believe in Rex, and I believe in John Beck,” Shanahan said. “I told you that from Day One. Both guys, I’m hoping, are going to be here for a long time. … I’ve been around quarterbacks in the National Football League for a long time, and I know these guys have got what it takes.”
2011 NFL Predictions Week 7 for Redskins vs Panthers: Even though I’m almost certain that Shanahan will give Grossman another chance, I don’t think it will matter much. On the road against a team desperate, and capable of getting its second win of the season might be too much for Washington.
