Raiders Richard Seymour Blasts New York Giants: This week, the newest Oakland Raider, 5-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Richard Seymour ripped the New York Giants and said, “they got what they deserved” against the New Orleans Saints. In last week’s showdown of the unbeaten at the Superdome, the Giants were defeated in blowout fashion, 48-27 in a game that matched the NFL’s best offense versus the league’s top-ranked defense.
Less than a week after being harshly criticized by Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce, the Silver and Black shocked
the league with a 13-9 victory over early Super Bowl contenders, Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in Oak Town. A few hours earlier, the Giants defense was getting lit-up like a Christmas tree by Drew Brees (23/30, 369 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs) and the New Orleans Saints offense that hung a 48-spot and almost 500 yards on the NFL’s best.
"They got what they deserved this week,” Seymour stated on Wednesday. “I'm not sure how many points the Saints scored on them, but if I'm not mistaken, it was half a hundred points. So, I think he got enough to chew on himself with that." The 3-time Super Bowl champion also went on to predict that the Raiders will make the NFL Playoffs this season. What really set him off was Pierce’s comments after the Giants whooped the Raiders 44-7 in Week 6:
"I do not like knocking teams," Pierce said. "But right now, they're struggling. We're playing that game the other day and, honestly, it felt like a scrimmage, like a practice. It felt like we were going against our offense (in a controlled setting) as far as the tempo.
"There was no vibe of trying or effort from the Raiders at all from a defensive standpoint against their offense. We're getting three-and-outs. You don't hear nobody (saying), 'Hey, let's go!' trying to pick the guys up, rallying them, getting guys fired up. There was nothing. It was quiet. A guy gets sacked or somebody gets beat, they just get up. It's not like there's yelling or no kind of([emotion) about the way they were playing... It was shocking to be out there in that game and get that kind of feeling."
