Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL Predictions Week 9: Huge NFC East implications will be on the line this Sunday Night at Lincoln Financial Field, as the (5-2) Dallas Cowboys [+3] pay a visit to the co-division-leading (5-2) Philadelphia Eagles [-3] on NBC Sports. Kickoff for this NFC East contest is scheduled for 8:25 PM ET (5:25 PM PT) and the OVER/UNDER for the Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles matchup is set at a combined total of 50 points scored.
The last time these interdivisional rivals met dates back to last year’s regular season finale. With the last playoff
spot on the line, QB Donovan McNabb and the Eagles handed Tony Romo and the Cowboys a royal 44-6 beatdown. "We just flat out got our tail whooped, man. No excuse or anything like that," (WR) Patrick Crayton stated on the team’s site in retrospect. "We went home and had to sulk and had to deal with that for the whole offseason."
Tonight, the Boys will get their first chance at revenge, but it wont be easy as Philly seems to have picked up the pace and intensity after an embarrassing loss to Oakland in the NFL Predictions Week six. This will be the 100th meeting between these old rivals. Despite the fact that Philadelphia has won four of its past six meetings with Dallas, its still a ways behind as the overall record favors the Cowboys, 55-44.
For the visiting Cowboys, that 38-point thrashing isn’t something anyone in the organization will soon forget. "I think we all remember so much,” outspoken Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. “I know I do and so many players on this team remember – how we left Philadelphia last year.”
But after starting the season 2-2 and Cowboys fans thinking ‘here we go again’ Dallas appears to have figured things out. The Cowboys took the little momentum they gained from their 6-point victory against KC going into the Bye and have come out swinging since then. "Defensively, they're flying around," Eagles head coach Andy Reid said. "They're blitzing from all over the place."
Since their 7-point loss to Denver, Big D has string together back-to-back-to-back victories that have catapulted them to the top of the division. After today, only one will stand along atop the NFC East. "I'm seeing things. It's as simple as that," said Romo. "I'm not throwing and hoping."
For the hosting Eagles, they too faced a similar situation early on in the season. There was adversity, injury and even confusion in the Eagles locker room, but got to figure things out during the Bye. "I've just been put in some great positions to score long touchdowns," the newest Eagles star DeSean Jackson said. "Whatever we need to do to make it work, that's what we're going to do. I want to keep winning, keep making plays and hopefully make it to the Super Bowl."
After a week off, the Eagles have won all but one game, registering a mark of 3-1, which includes an ongoing 2-game win streak. "Ever since their bye week, they've been playing well, too,” Donovan McNabb said. “So it's going to be a challenge for us no matter what."
