College Football Picks Week 11 Alert: Midshipmen Sink Irish BCS Plans: As unbelievable as it sounds the Navy Midshipmen defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 23-21 on Saturday sinking the Irish’s chance at a BCS Bowl. A secondary affect of Notre Dame’s third loss is Jimmy Clausen’s chances to win the Heisman Trophy and with No. 12 Pittsburgh Panthers on the road this Saturday. Would Heisman voters support a four loss candidate? This week’s opponent the Panthers crushed Syracuse on Saturday 37-10 and has its eyes on the Big East title and a BCS Bowl. The College Football Picks Week 11 experts at Bookmaker.com have the Pittsburgh Panthers -7 point favorites against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame Nation had high hopes for a return to National Prominence and be in the hunt for a berth in the BCS National Championship Game with Charlie Weis riding on shoulder pads. Then came perennial foes Michigan and USC, the losses started to add up. Finally another home loss to Navy 23-21 and an upcoming road contest against the BCS Standings No. 12 Panthers and there is no joy in South Bend. My College football picks week 11 predicts this will be the last season for Coach Weis at the Golden Dome.
The real loser is quarterback Jimmy Clausen who is having an outstanding year statistically. Clausen is 200 for 308 passing 2770 yards, 20 touchdowns, and a whopping 162.89 passer rating. The junior has amassed 7,196 yards and 52 touchdowns already in his career. These are certainly Heisman numbers and his leadership on the field has been exemplary! I would like to give my support, but with three losses already, a tough game this weekend, and games against UConn and at Stanford who just upset Oregon, my vote goes to Tim Tebow who keeps winning!
