Who would have thought that after nine
weeks of NFL action the Steelers would be looking up at the Bengals in the AFC North standings? While few, if any, envisioned such a scenario it is, indeed, a reality as Cincinnati currently owns the top spot in the stacked division with a 6-2 record.
The Bengals apparently have not done enough to convince the odds makers nor the betting public that they are better than Pittsburgh, though. Cincinnati has reeled off five straight wins, but still finds itself taking points from the visiting Steelers.
The doubts probably stem from the level of competition the Bengals have played to this point. Only two of Cincy's eight opponents (San Francisco, Buffalo) this season own winning records and the Bengals present win streak has come against a group of teams that are a combined 13-26.
Conversely, only four of Pittsburgh's nine opponents own losing records. Despite the disparity in competition and the perception that Pittsburgh is the better team, expect the Bengals to leave it all on the field tomorrow. Teams riding long win streaks typically see it end in one of two ways: a close loss or a blowout.
Nothing about this Cincinnati team suggests that it will get blown out by anyone and the numbers point toward it being on equal footing with the Steelers.
