2011 NFL Schedule Week 11 & Odds: Well, week 10 did not determine playoff seeding, but it certainly allowed a handful of clubs to establish a well defined position ahead of their peers. Pittsburgh, New England, New Orleans, Oakland, and Chicago all earned big wins over bitter rivals and each squad, with the exception of the Bears, now owns first place in its respective division. Week 11 looks more like the Eliminator as a few fringe teams (i.e. Tampa Bay, Kansas City, Buffalo, Philadelphia, San Diego) face the type of opposition that could push them into the football abyss.
The "are they for real" line of the week: Carolina Panthers vs Detroit Lions (-7)
The Lions strong start now looks somewhat suspect as they have dropped three of 
their last four games. Other than a 45 point week eight outburst at Denver, Detroit's offense has struggled to put points on the board in recent weeks. In their 5-0 start the Lions averaged 31.8 points per game and they never scored fewer than 24 points in any one game. Since their week six loss to the Niners, the Lions are averaging 23.3 points per game and that total includes the aforementioned score against the Broncos. If Detroit is, indeed, for real, they will need to prove it against the Panthers. If Matthew Stafford and company are unable to get past Carolina, their playoff hopes could be in jeopardy as they close out the season with Green Bay, New Orleans, Minnesota, Oakland, San Diego, and Green Bay.
The "barking dog" line of the week: Philadelphia Eagles vs New York Giants (-3)
Amazingly, the 3-6 Eagles have been favored in every game this season. Obviously this speaks to the talent on the team. Now, one might suspect Philadelphia is ready to mail it in after losing at home to the lowly Cardinals; however, despite its poor record, it still has something on the line. If the Eagles can upset the banged up Giants, a team they have defeated five times in the last six meetings between the two, they will trail New York by two games in the division standings. And maybe this team will play better as a dog than it has as a favorite.
The "rebound" line of the week: Cincinnati Bengals vs Baltimore Ravens (-7)
Baltimore has now been embarrassed twice in post-Steelers action, losing at Tennessee and at Seattle. The Ravens destroyed St. Louis 37-7 the week after their humiliating loss to the Titans and one would suspect the Bengals, despite being a superior club to the Rams, are in trouble this weekend. Baltimore has been unstoppable at home this season, beating the Steelers, Jets, Texans, and Cardinals by an average of 15.8 points per game. While Cincinnati is a scrappy team that has shown a lot of heart thus far, it is not on equal footing with its divisional rival.
