The Buccaneers mid-season slide continued last weekend with a horrific 37-9 home
loss to the Houston Texans. The loss, which marked Tampa Bay's fourth setback in its last five games, saw the team post 12 first downs, 231 yards, and four turnovers.
The most obvious reason behind the Bucs recent woes has been the play of quarterback Josh Freeman. Freeman, who put together a brilliant sophomore campaign last season (25 touchdowns, six interceptions), has recorded a sub 60 passer rating in three of the team's last five games while throwing six touchdowns to nine interceptions.
Sunday's outing against the Texans marked Freeman's worst showing of the season as he completed 15-of-33 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown, and three picks.
Conversely, Freeman's counterpart this Sunday, the Packers Aaron Rodgers, has played at an otherworldly level the entire season, but particularly over the last three weeks. In Green Bay's last three games Rodgers has completed 68-of-86 passes for 832 yards, 11 touchdowns, and zero interceptions (144.2 quarterback rating).
Rodgers incredible run should continue this weekend with only Tampa Bay's horrific defense standing in his way. The Buccaneers defense has been the equal of Freeman in terms of ugly play as it is yielding an average of 401.2 yards and 25.9 points per game.
While 14 point spreads are less than ideal, anything less than a Green Bay route in this NFC clash would be stunning.
