Roy Williams Causing TO Style Noise In Dallas

by Steve Hastings on Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Haven’t the Cowboys had enough to deal with this year? Tony Romo has battled criticism for Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith. Marion Barber has a quad injury and a broken thumb. The secondary has been getting pummeled by injuries. Yet after getting ripped for their loss to Denver, and a near-loss to the Chiefs, the Cowboys have managed to rip off three wins, while piling up 101-points in the past three games.

Roy Williams Causing TO Style Noise In DallasYet success hasn’t managed to put a smile on Roy Williams face. When asked about the chemistry between him and Romo, Williams was noted as saying: “It’s not even close…It’s not even funny. Not even close.

I guess winning doesn’t matter to this guy, not that he’d be familiar with it after being a member of the Detroit Lions. Williams didn’t stop there either. He continued to lambaste Romo for erratic passes, saying he’s had to do some, “stretching and falling and doing everything [to catch passes].”

Funny how the guy they traded for to replace Terrell Owens is causing even more crap in Dallas than he ever did, ain’t’ it?

The CBS sports picks were asked to pick between Dallas and Philadelphia in one of the best games this weekend, and Pete Prisco and Clark Judge both backed America’s Team. Prisco even noted, “Tony Romo is on fire — he's been outstanding the past several weeks. Romo threw eight touchdown passes and no interceptions in his past three games. His passer rating has been over 100 in each of those games, all Cowboys victories.”.

Williams is the one receiver making noise off the field while his two counterparts, Crayton and Miles Austin, are making noise on it. Austin leads the team with 563-yards and 6 touchdowns, and Crayton is third with 291 yards and two touchdowns while also serving as the team’s return man.

The world of pro football betting hasn’t been too kind to the Dallas Cowboys. Against the NFL point spread , the ‘Boys are just 4-3 ATS and are currently riding a 1-4 ATS streak on the road. When they face the blistering hot Philadelphia Eagles on the road this weekend, all eyes will be on the Williams-Romo connection, and that’s just unfair.

Jon Gruden on Monday Night Football said it best when dissecting what was wrong with the Cowboys earlier this season. He didn’t shy away from the fact that Owens dropped passes, but Owens found the end zone and tore apart tacklers while running with the football. Gruden emphatically stated that the Cowboys would miss what Owens brought to the team. Theatrics aside, and personal hatred of Owens aside, T.O. is the guy who cried for Tony Romo in front of the press after a playoff loss saying, “That’s my quarterback…” as if his best friend had been shot to death. Gruden was dead on about Owens and Cowboys: Dallas would miss him.

With Williams chirping up like a spoiled brat, he’s proving he’s the “me first” douchebag that the Cowboys thought Owens was. All it’s done is thrown Romo’s leadership abilities in to question, something that Troy Aikman already did. How will Romo respond to the latest outburst from his new receiver? It’s time for Romo to prove that he is the real leader of the Dallas Cowboys.

All we know right now is that the Cowboys are underdogs in Lincoln Financial Field this weeknd against the Eagles. But we also know that Tony Romo is not Roy Williams quarterback. Miss T.O. yet, Dallas?
