LSU vs. Ole Miss 2011 College Football Predictions: No. 1 LSU (10-0) is in the drivers seat to represent the West Division in the 2011 SEC Championship Game. If the Tigers win out, including the SEC game; they will be assured of a berth in the BCS title game. This Saturday, the Tigers head to Oxford, Miss., as heavy 31 1/2 chalk College Football Odds road favorites, to play Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
After playing Mississippi, LSU will close out it's regular-season schedule at home against BCS No. 6 Arkansas on November 25. The Tigers didn't have any problem getting to 10-0 on the season over the weekend, winning a gift game against Western Kentucky by a score of 42-9 at home. Jordan Jefferson saw the bulk of the action at QB for LSU, going 8 of 14 for 168 yards passing with one touchdown strike. Jarrett Lee completed 2 of his 4 attempts for 15 yards and a score, while Alfred Blue rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns; LSU is now 7-3 against the spread this season.
Ole Miss is experiencing a disastrous season that's produced a 2-8 SU record and from appearance sake, is destined for a 2-10 final record. That is unless Houston Nutt can inspire his players to play way beyond their talent level this week against LSU or at Mississippi State next week. The Rebels have been consistent against the chalk, from a losing perspective, going 3-7 ATS. The UNDER has been the most consistent total against the posted number in 6-of-10 games.
Rebel head coach Houston Nutt is 6-7 all time against LSU, but has won three of his last four against the Tigers including a 50-48 win over then No. 1 LSU at Tiger Stadium in 2007. Prior to last year’s loss, the Rebels had won two straight in the series which ended a six-game LSU winning streak. Before that Tiger winning streak, Ole Miss had taken four of five. Over the last 14 games in the series, LSU holds a slight 8-6 advantage.
College Football Pick: LSU will win this game and win it big. I don't like laying 31 1/2 points anywhere but on the other hand don't find any wagering value on Ole Miss. I do see LSU scoring in the 40's, so with a posted 46 total I do see some value in the total. That is if the Rebels can get one score. My Pick – OVER 46.
