Miami is no where near a playoff berth,
but it may be on the verge of saving a season which seemed certain to result in the dismissal of Head Coach Tony Sparano. The team's 0-7 start has transformed into a three game win streak with the Dolphins knocking off the Chiefs, Redskins, and Bills in consecutive weeks.
Miami's defense has been superb the last three weeks, giving up an average of 6.7 points per contest, but the big surprise has been the play of the offense. Matt Moore's first four games under center resulted in 52 total points and a 65 passer rating; however, in the last three games Moore has produced a 118.7 quarterback rating (six touchdowns, one interception, 613 pass yards) and Miami has tallied 86 points.
The Dolphins, who are meeting the Cowboys on Thanksgiving for the fourth time since the 1993 season, may find the yards and points a bit more difficult to come by on Thursday, though. Dallas' defense, for the most part, has been solid, ranking 10th in the league in yards per game allowed (328.6), but it has been especially tough at home.
Only the Lions have scored more than 16 on the Pokes at Cowboys Stadium, and 14 of Detroit's 34 points came on interception returns. Dallas also rides its own wave of poitive momentum into this Thanksgiving affair, having won three in a row and four of its last five games.
The Cowboys, which knocked off division rival Washington 27-24 in overtime on Sunday, have also won three in a row at home, beating the Rams, Seahawks, and Bills by an average score of 33.7 to nine. While Miami, given its current level of play, figures to provide more of a challenge than any of those teams, a holiday upset still seems unlikely.
