2011 BCS Standings – LSU and Alabama Top 2: For now, the only thing standing in the way of an Alabama-LSU match-up in the 2011-12 BCS Championship Game is if LSU loses to Georgia in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game this Saturday (Dec. 3). As expected, the Tigers remained on top of the BCS standings for Week 14 after defeating No. 3 Arkansas 41-17 in Baton Rouge on Friday (Nov. 25). Alabama didn't waste any time establishing itself as a strong No. 2 by going on the road and whipping rival Auburn 42-14.
Oddsmakers at online sports book JustBet.cx lists LSU odds favorite at -250 on the College Football Odds futures board to win the 2011-12BCS Championship Game while Alabama backers are getting +130 odds to win.
Oklahoma State (10-1, 7-1 Big 12), who was idle this week, moved up to No. 3. OSU closes out its season at home this Saturday with No. 10, Oklahoma (9-2, 6-2 Big 12) . The winner of the OU vs. OSU Bedlam Game gets the automatic BCS bowl bid and will probably go to the Fiesta Bowl to play the Stanford Cardinal who moved into the BCS 4-slot behind the Cowboys. Virginia Tech remained at No. 5 in spite of going on the road and defeating rival Virginia. The Hokies play No. 20 Clemson in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game on Saturday. This will be the second meeting of the year between the Hokies and Tigers, losing at home 23-3 for their only ACC blemish.
Houston has the upper hand in the battle of non-automatic qualifiers by moving to No. 6, one slot above Boise State at No. 7. The Broncos, likely winners over UNLV this week, will certainly be rooting for No. 24 Southern Mississippi to beat the Cougars in the Conference-USA Championship Game Saturday afternoon. If Houston beats USM, they get a BCS bid, probably from the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Regardless if it's Houston or Boise State, their opponent could be Arkansas sitting at No. 8 in this weeks BCS standings.
Oregon moved up to No. 9 exchanging places with last weeks No. 9 Oklahoma who in spite of a win over Iowa State this week, dropped to No. 10. The Ducks will host UCLA this Saturday in the Pac-12 Championship Game. With a win, the Ducks will be playing in the Rose Bowl against who emerges champions of the BIG TEN, either No. 13 Michigan State or No. 15 Wisconsin. Kansas State at No. 11 is probably destined for the Cotton or Alamo Bowl, and No. 12 South Carolina, who knocked off ACC Atlantic Division Champion Clemson moves to No. 12. Michigan State jumped over Georgia to No. 13 while the Bulldogs fell one spot to 13th following Saturday's victory at Georgia Tech. After Wisconsin at No. 15 is Michigan at No. 16. The Wolverines are likely headed to the Outback Bowl in Tampa while the loser of the BIG TEN Championship Game, Wisconsin or Michigan State will probably be headed to the Capital-One Bowl in Orlando. Baylor, a strong candidate to play in the Insight Bowl are No. 17 followed by TCU in 18th. If the Horned Frogs can jump to 14th in the final poll and Houston loses, it would be eligible for a BCS bowl but that scenario is unlikely. The Horned Frogs will more than likely be playing in the Maaco Las Vegas Bowl or Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego. Nebraska and Clemson are No. 19 and 20.
Penn State fell to No. 21 after losing at Wisconsin and Texas follows at No. 22 following its upset victory at Texas A&M. West Virginia makes it back into the BCS standings at No. 24 followed by Missouri at No. 25.
