NFL Picks: Chicago Bears vs. Minnesota Vikings NFL Betting Odds Week 12: Looking to become just the third team to reach double-digits in wins this season, the NFC North leading (9-1) Minnesota Vikings [-11] host their longtime division rival (4-6) Chicago Bears [+11] this afternoon. This NFL Picks game will kickoff at around 4:20 PM ET (1:20 PM PT), as the newly named Mall of America Field will be the sight.
According to NFL Picks experts and NFL Betting Odds makers at SportsBook.com, the OVER/UNDER for this Chicago Bears vs. Minnesota Vikings Week 12 game has been set at a combined total of 47 points scored.
For the visiting Bears, to say that their new quarterback hasn’t exactly worked out as well as their divisional counterpart’s has, would be a huge understatement. With losses in five of the last six games, Jay Cutler’s first year in Chicago appears to be a bust. "This wasn't part of the master plan," Chicago head coach Lovie Smith said.
Barring some form of miracle, the Bears will miss the playoffs for a third consecutive season, as Cutler leads the NFL with 18 interceptions. In last week’s 10-6 loss to San Francisco, Cutler threw a career-high 5 INTs. The week before against Philly, he completed 24 of his 43 attempts for 171 yards with one touchdown. However, his only pick came in the final minute of the game, giving the Eagles the W.
"I haven't played up to my expectations," Cutler said. "I think that's the most important part. I can play better. I know that."
For the hosting Vikings, their preseason acquisition has resulted in the exact opposite. With so many questions surrounding Brett Favre’s ability to play at this level, while skipping training camp and jumping into (what was expected to be) a highly competitive division, the old man has superseded all expectations.
"There's nothing he can do to surprise anybody anymore," said Vikings center John Sullivan said. "He's a great player. We know that as long as we protect him, him and the receivers and Adrian (Peterson), they're all going to make plays."
In fact, some people are even considering the 40-year-old QB in conversations consisting of three letters. In last week’s 35-9 win over Seattle, Favre certainly looked like an MVP, completing a career-high 88% (22 of 25) of his throws for 213 yards and a whopping 4 touchdowns.
"Getting back to that confidence that I had when I didn't know any better, that was pretty good," Favre said this week. "And I'm feeling more confident. I'm more of a realist at this age, but that doesn't mean you can't go out there and turn it loose."
