Plaxico Burress Out of New York Giants?

Plaxico Burress Out of New York Giants? Ok, so NFL players have this stigma of possessing very bad judgment when it comes to decision-making and some are even considered simply, troublemakers… but why? Why do multi-millionaire athletes feel the need for trouble in their life? Why can’t they just lay low and live a happy prosperous life, in which they have everything in their reach? Watching a report on ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” made me wonder.

In the story, some retired football players expressed this feeling of paranoia as being a direct link to their desire to carry a deadly weapon. I’m certainly not a psychologist nor will I try to pretend to be one, but this seems to be the case of the New York Giants’ wide receiver, Plaxico Burress.

In the NFL’s Week 14, the New York Giants can inch one step closer to their ultimate goal of winning back-to-back Super Bowl titles, as they take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Odds makers at BodogLife.com have the New York Giants [-7½] as Sports Odds favorites to win Sunday’s contest when the visiting Philadelphia Eagles [+7½] hit the Meadowlands.

As it appears, the Burress shooting isn’t only affecting the guy who appears to be on a self-destructive path. According to various reports, Burress’ teammate Antonio Pierce, who was allegedly present when Burress was shot and even the hospital that treated Plaxico, are under scrutiny. The OVER/UNDER for this NFL Week 14 game between the Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants has been set at a combined total of 44 points.

New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center said officials “take this very seriously, and are conducting a thorough investigation into why this gunshot wound was not reported to the police department in a timely fashion.” The hospital employee who failed to report the incident immediatey has been "suspended", and Antonio Pierce is also being investigated about his involvements on what took place that evening.

The New York Giants haven’t decided what to do with Burress, but it’s likely that the Giants will suspend or de-activate him for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Many have already began speculating that the Giants could “go as far as releasing Burress, but that would put a strain on the team’s salary cap next season”.
