Tennessee Titans vs Indianapolis Colts NFL Week 13 Picks: The two hottest teams in the American Football Conference will take the field this Sunday afternoon, as the surging (5-6) Tennessee Titans [+7] pay a visit to the undefeated (11-0) Indianapolis Colts [-7] on CBS. This AFC South matchup is set to kickoff at 1:05 PM ET and the OVER/UNDER is set at a combined total of 47 points scored.
The last time these divisional rivals got together on the same field dates back to Week 5. In that game, Peyton Manning lit up the Titans secondary on his way to a 309-yard, three-touchdown performance, as his club
prevailed 31-9. The win earned the Colts a split with the Titans in their last 6 head-to-head meetings, but Tennessee still trails in the overall series, 16-13.
Last week, we got a chance to see a rematch of the 2005 BCS National Championship game, as Vince Young and Matt Leinart got reacquainted for the first time since the USC-Texas duel, when Arizona visited Tennessee.
With starter Kurt Warner suffering from post-concussion symptoms, Leinart couldn’t even the score in his rivalry against Young, as the former reminiscently Longhorn drove down the field (99 yards) and put the game away (20-17) with a spectacular, last-second touchdown.
The league’s leading rusher, Chris Johnson had another masterful effort against the Cardinals, as he has rushed for at least 125 yards in six straight games. His worse game this season came against Indy’s “D”, as he was uncharacteristically bottled up for a mere 34 yards.
The Colts on the other hand were tested at the start of last week’s game against Houston, as the Texans believe they let one get away. After falling behind early, the Colts overcame a 20-7 halftime deficit with a furious rally, and put the clamps down when it mattered most. Indy remained perfect with a 35-27 victory.
Last week, Manning got to within one touchdown from becoming the first quarterback in NFL history with 25 TD passes in 12 straight seasons. I think it’s safe to assume that he will reach and surpass that mark on Sunday against Tennessee.
