NFL Picks: Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns NFL Odds Week 14: After suffering their worse defeat of the NFL season, there’s no time for Mike Tomlin’s team to feel sorry for one another, as they have to get up and do it again in tonight’s Thursday Night Football. Live from Cleveland Browns Stadium, the (6-6) Pittsburgh Steelers [-10] will try and snap their 4-game losing streak as they battle the sports betting odds underdog (1-11) Cleveland Browns [+10].
This AFC North rivalry will be renewed tonight beginning at 8:25 PM ET (5:25 PM PT) and you can catch it all on
the NFL-Network. According to NFL Odds makers at SPORTSBOOK.com, the OVER/UNDER for this Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns Week 14 game is set at a combined total of 33 points scored.
After stating that his team would finish the season on a rampage, Tomlin’s squad faltered against one of the league’s worst teams. The loss to the Raiders also gave the Steelers their first 4-game losing streak in five years. "I can't even describe how frustrating it is right now to be 6-6," said (LB) James Farrior. "We thought we'd be doing a lot better at this point. But we are what our record says we are."
The good news is that Pittsburgh hasn’t lost a singe game against this divisional rival in more than 5 years, that’s 12 consecutive wins over the Browns. "We can't stay status quo in terms of how we're approaching this and expect the pattern of behavior or outcome to change," Tomlin said. "That's unrealistic. That's hoping. This is not a hope business."
Making matters worse, Pro Bowl safety Troy Polamalu (knees) and wide receiver Hines Ward (hamstring) will likely miss tonight’s game as well. His absence becomes that much more significant when no Steelers cornerback has any interceptions this season. In three games that Polamalu has played this season, he has three picks, yet no corner has a single INT?
"I'm not going to make excuses," Tomlin said. "I think we're capable of playing winning football with or without Troy. Are we different? Yes, because Troy's a unique individual. Maybe the ceiling is different but the floor, the level of expectation, is the same."
For the lowly Browns, even though their season has been over for quite some time now, they would like nothing more than to put the finishing touches on Pittsburgh’s collapse and end its quest for a title defense. If they’re going to accomplish this, they’re going to need quarterback Brady Quinn to continue to play the way he has been over the past several weeks.
Quinn enters tonight’s contest without having thrown a single INT in his last three games. "I've been happy with his overall decision making," coach Eric Mangini said. "I think that, offensively, we've made improvements collectively."
