Jaguars vs Falcons Odds 2011 Thursday Night Football Picks: The question is this: who thought Jacksonville deserved so much face time? The Jaguars scored more points on Sunday than it had in its three previous games combined as they upset in-state rival Tampa Bay 41-14 at EverBank Field. Granted, the Jaguars had two non-offensive touchdowns, but the offense exploded, by its standards anyway, with a 21 first down 325 yard effort. More importantly, though, Jacksonville capitalized in the red zone, scoring on four of their five trips inside the Buccaneers 20 yard line.
Blaine Gabbert had a pedestrain outing, completing 19-of-33 passes for 217 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, but Maurice Jones-Drew starred in the unlikely blowout. Jones-Drew carried the ball 27 for 85 yards and two touchdowns and he also reeled in six catches for 51 yards and two scores.
It is safe to assume Jacksonville will, once again, rely heavily on Jones-Drew as it attempts to turn back a hot Atlanta team at the Georgia Dome. The Falcons recorded their eighth win of the season on Sunday by thumping division rival Carolina 31-23 in Charlotte.
Atlanta found itself in a precarious 23-7 hole going into halftime, but it battled back after the break and took the lead for good when Matt Ryan hit Julio Jones on a 17 touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter. Ryan finished the afternoon with a 120.5 passer rating thanks to a 320 yard, four touchdown outing. Jones only caught three passes, but he made them count as he piled up 104 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The Falcons are 4-2 at home this season, but their two home setbacks came against the Packers and Saints. Jacksonville, which has played its last three games at home, is 1-5 on the road this season; the Jags five away losses came by an average of 10.6 points per game.
Thursday Night Football Picks Betting Trend: The Jaguars are 2-9 straight up and 3-7-1 against the spread over the last three years playing as a road dog coming off a win.
