The Show Me Showdown will take place this afternoon as the Chiefs and Rams butt heads at the Edward Jones Dome in downtown St. Louis. Today's inter-state affair is scheduled to kickoff at 1:00pm ET on CBS. NFL Week 15 Predictions have the Rams listed as a -3 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 42.5.
Kansas City saw its lead in the AFC West
slip to one game last Sunday after a visit to the second place Chargers in San Diego. The Chiefs, which played without starting quarterback Matt Cassel due to an emergency appendectomy, got spanked 31-0 at Qualcomm Stadium.
Kansas City, which now owns a half game lead in the division after San Diego's Thursday night pasting of the Forty Niners, turned in one of the franchise's worst offensive performances ever under the guidance of backup signal caller Brodie Croyle. The 8-5 Chiefs finished the game with a miserable 67 total yards and five first downs; Kansas City also failed to convert on all 11 of its third down situations. Croyle, who completed 7-of-17 passes for 40 yards, is now 0-10 as a starter.
Cassel's status for today's game is still uncertain. He participated in practice all week, but was limited in certain drills; Chiefs Head Coach Todd Haley said earlier in the week that he will be a game time decision.
St. Louis fell to 6-7 last week with a 31-13 loss at New Orleans; however, it retained its NFC West lead on Seattle, also 6-7, after the Seahawks got blasted by San Francisco. The setback ended a three game road swing for the Rams, which close out the season with an all important game at Seattle.
Quarterback Sam Bradford, who has put together a remarkable rookie campaign, had a forgettable effort against the Saints, completing 18-of-32 passes for 231 yards and two interceptions. The loss marked his third multi-interception game of the season and his first since a week five loss at Detroit.
St. Louis, like Kansas City, has been a far better team at home this season, going 4-2 in its six games at the Edward Jones Dome. The Rams did slip in their last home outing, though, falling 34-17 to the NFC leading Falcons.
NFL Week 15 Betting Trend: The Chiefs are 5-0 against the spread over the last five years playing as a road dog coming off a road loss.
NFL Week 15 Predictions Kansas City Chiefs vs St. Louis Rams Odds:
Kansas City Chiefs +3 (-110), Over 42.5 (-110)
St. Louis Rams -3 (-110), Under 42.5 (-110)
