The two New York based teams are scheduled to kick things off at 1:00pm ET on FOX. The hosting Jets are an NFL Odds favorite at -3 against the spread and -145 on the moneyline; the game total is set at 45.5 points. The Giants are still alive in the NFC playoff picture, but they have reduced their chances to the division title only variety. New York’s horrific late season slide has dropped the team’s record to 7-7 and ruined what once looked like a certain playoff season.

The Giants woeful play was on full display last week as they lost at home 23-10 to the Washington Redskins. The loss, New York’s fifth in its last six games, ruined a dramatic 37-34 win at Dallas the previous Sunday.

Quarterback Eli Manning, who is having the best season of his career (4,362 yards, 25 touchdowns, 8.25 ypp), was the chief reason behind the team’s failure to turn back the lowly Redskins. Manning finished the game 23-of-40 for 257 yards and three interceptions, a stat line which, undoubtedly, served as his worst of the year.

Manning’s counterpart this Saturday, Jets signal caller Mark Sanchez, turned in a similarly woeful performance against the Eagles over the weekend. Sanchez connected on just 15 of his 26 pass attempts for 150 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. As bad as Sanchez was, the Jets defense played even worse as it gave up 420 total yards to Philadelphia, despite forcing four Eagles turnovers.

While New York’s loss did not knock it out of the sixth and final AFC playoff spot that it presently owns, it did up the ante for the 8-6 Jets in their final two regular season games (New York, at Miami). As has been the custom for New York during most of Rex Ryan’s tenure, it has little margin for error going forward.

Despite last week’s slip up, the Jets, which have lost their last two meetings with the Giants, are probably playing at a higher level than their city rival. Ryan’s troops reeled off three straight wins prior to falling at Philly, and they scored at least 28 points in all three of those games.

NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Giants are 8-2 straight up and against the spread in their last 10 games as a road dog with a spread between 0 and 3.5.
