Arizona State vs Boise State 2011 Maaco Bowl Las Vegas Picks

by Reno Gold on Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

boise state kellen mooreArizona State vs. Boise State 2011 Maaco Bowl Las Vegas Picks: For the second straight year, the Boise State Broncos fell out of the BCS picture and landed in the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl. This Thursday, the Broncos play against the Arizona State Sun Devils, at Sam Boyd Stadium. ESPN will televise the game with kick-off set for 8 pm ET. As usual, the Broncos are big College Football Odds favorites for the game, this time by -13 points ATS and -600 moneyline. The games combined point total (over/under) opened at 66.

The No. 7 (BCS) Broncos cost themselves a spot in the national championship with a 36-35 loss to TCU at home back on November 12; kicker Dan Goodale missed a 39-yard field goal attempt in the final seconds of that contest to ruin their perfect mark.

Boise State closed out the regular season winning their final three games over San Diego State, Wyoming, and New Mexico by a combined score of 133-49. BSU ended up at at 11-1 straight up (4-8 against the spread) on the season. The loss to the Horned Frogs did enough damage to keep the Broncos out of the national championship game and all of the other BCS contests coming up in January as well.

The Broncos’ final game of the regular season was a 45-0 home win over New Mexico, with quarterback Kellen Moore going 28 of 33 for 313 yards passing with three touchdowns and no interceptions. On the year Moore passed for 3,507 yards with 41 touchdown strikes and seven interceptions.

The Sun Devils might be in over their heads at the MAACO Bowl, as they’re riding a four-game losing streak into the contest and they went only 6-6 straight up (4-7 against the spread) on the season. Arizona State’s last win came on October 29 at home against Colorado, and they fell 47-38 at home to California last time out.

My Pick – Boise State -13

2011 Bowls Picks record to date – 3-2. After going 3-0 on Week 1 Saturday, I’ve missed the mark in back to back nights picking Florida International on Tuesday and TCU to cover Wednesday.
