"Everybody will be worried about somebody bumping me. And the staff has been so good — all those guys know me, and they know how to operate without me. "He's (Paterno) persevered so much," stated USC Trojan Head Coach Pete Carroll. "I've thought about it, and to me it's not all the games that he's won; it's how he's survived the pressure of all the big games that you lose over that many years. The losses are so difficult and so challenging," Carroll continued. "It's amazing that he's been able to keep the right attitude and stay on top of the game for so long. It's kind of an unnatural experience he's put together. And he's still full of the devil."

They'll be a fun challenge for us…The thing I get caught up in is not so much the outside stuff and what it could mean. I get caught up in how much fun I'm having out there on the field."
"They're very fast, one of the fastest defenses we've seen," Penn State wide receiver Deon Butler said. "It definitely could be (a low-scoring game) because both defenses are tremendous in their own right. Their offense is probably getting tired of hearing about their defense, like they don't exist."
