The Washington Redskins will look to close out what has been a dismal 2010 season on a high note this weekend as they host division rival New York at FedEX Field. The Giants, meanwhile. are still vying for a playoff spot, but they need some help in order to secure a postseason berth. Sunday's game between Washington and New York is scheduled to get underway at 4:15pm ET on FOX. NFL Week 17 Predictions have the Giants listed as a -4 against the spread road favorite and the Over/Under set at 44.5.
After recording three straight wins from 
weeks 12 through 14, the Giants looked like a shoe-in for the playoffs. However, back to back losses to the Eagles and Packers have seriously jeopardized New York's postseason chances. Now Tom Coughlin's troops must beat Washington and have the Bears, which won the NFC North crown almost two weeks ago, defeat Green Bay at Lambeau.
Chicago is certainly capable of taking out the Packers, and there is a scenario where the Bears can garner the top seed in the NFC if they win this weekend, but Green Bay should be the more desperate team come Sunday.
New York, given the ugly nature of its last two setbacks, should primarily be concerned with clipping the Redskins. The Giants gave up 28 fourth quarter points in their 38-31 loss to the Eagles and they turned the ball six times in last week's loss at Green Bay. Taking care of its own business is New York's only priority this weekend.
Washington, at 6-9, comes into this game with nothing to lose. The Redskins have been out of the playoff chase for a few weeks, though, and to Mike Shanahan's credit, he has gotten his team to play hard.
Prior to Sunday's 20-17 upset of the Jaguars in Jacksonville, Washington lost to the Bucs and Cowboys by a total of four points. New York should expect the Redskins best effort, especially since they have an opportunity to spoil the Giants playoff chances.
