Brett Favre Will Not Report to Green Bay Packers Training Camp: Very early on the Sunday morning of July 27, 2008 at around 2 am ET, SI.com divulged new information pertaining to the ongoing Brett Favre saga. According to the report, the retired Green Bay Packers quarterback himself, informed SI in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, that he would not be reporting to the Green Bay Packers training camp on Sunday as previously thought. Did Brett Favre have another change of heart? Not exactly. In a statement Favre explained in the very early hours of Sunday morning: “I had planned on reporting for the start of Packers training camp Sunday, But Ted Thompson (Packers GM) asked if I would give him a couple of days to try to get the situation resolved. I agreed to do that. I don’t want to be a distraction to the Packers, and I hope that in the next few days we can come to an agreement that would allow me to continue playing football.” Favre, who has yet to file reinstatement papers with the NFL’s commissioner Roger Goodell, added: “I’ve also spoken to commissioner Goodell a couple of times this week, in hopes that he could be some sort of arbitrator in this. I hope he can be.” The Hall of Fame bound Favre also emphatically denied the allegations that the Minnesota Vikings has tampered with him as he contemplated whether to return to play a few weeks ago. Stick with Sports-Odds.com for the latest on the Brett Favre saga, as we will continue to report around the clock, any changes including if/when a Brett Favre trade goes through. New England Patriots Sign RB LaMont Jordan: It’s not like the New England Patriots needed any help, but they just got it. It was announced late Saturday evening that the Oakland Raiders’ ex-starting RB LaMont Jordan, has signed with the New England Patriots after being released Friday by the silver-and-black. The Raiders had tried to get something out of the powerful HB, but were forced to release him after no one favored a trade. How many games will the New England Patriots win this upcoming 2008-2009 NFL regular season? SportsBook.com has the answer. The terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed, as the New England Patriots have added some depth to their already high-octane offensive attack. The OVER/UNDER for how many 2008-2009 NFL regular season games the New England Patriots will win has been set at 12 total games won. The veteran HB who most recently served as a backup RB in the New York Jets, before being offered a contract to start with the Raiders, is expected to come in and play backup to the Patriots’ starter, Laurence Maroney. The Betting Odds ML for the New England Patriots to win OVER 12 in the 2008-2009 NFL regular season games is -190. The 5’ 10” 230-lbs 29-year-old Jordan is likely to be used in goal line situations as a bruiser HB if you will. The last few seasons with the Raiders, Jordan’s playing time has been limited because of ongoing back problems. The Betting Odds ML for the New England Patriots to win UNDER 12 in the 2008-2009 NFL regular season games is +155. Last season, Jordan rushed for 549 yards and just 3 touchdowns in 12 games. The ex-USC Trojan HB Justine Fargas, took over his role as a starter, and of course everyone knows of the Raiders’ 2008 Draft Pick, McFadden. In his 7 seasons in the NFL, Jordan’s totals are: 3,285 rushing yards, 24 TD, and 158 pass receptions for 1,301 yards. Nebraska Cornhuskers Big 12 Conference Preview 2008 College Football Predictions: After a disastrous 2-6 Big XII Conference record last year, Bill Callahan is history, enter Bo Pelini (1-0 record at Nebraska). The defensive minded, Pelini, will try to encourage the Huskers to play the kind of tough defensive he imposed at Oklahoma and LSU. The Nebraska Cornhuskers’ betting odds to win the BCS National Championship game in 2009 are +8000. Pelini will be making his second strive at the legendary university, with the first being back in 2003, when he registered a win in the Alamo Bowl as Nebraska’s interim head coach. Last season, Nebraska finished with an overall mark of 5-7, as they were ineligible for a Bowl game. This upcoming season, if the defense can improve some from last season –as they likely will– and the offense can have a repeat performance of 2007, they are certainly Bowl-bound. The Nebraska Cornhuskers’ betting odds to win the Big XII Conference in 2008 are +1000. The offensive side of the ball looks extremely promising going into the ’08 campaign. RB Marlon Lucky returns this season after rushing for over the millennium mark (1,019). The ML betting odds for Nebraska to win OVER 7 games in the upcoming 2008 regular season is -130. Another bright side for Nebraska is the return of QB Joe Ganz, who last season threw for 1,435 passing yards. In the WR department, they will be counting on Nate Swift, Todd Peterson, and Lucky out of the backfield to catch some passes. The ML betting odds for Nebraska to win OVER 7 games in the upcoming 2008 regular season is Even. College Football Predictions: Colorado Buffaloes Big 12 Conference Preview 2008: Last season the Colorado Buffaloes finished their season 6-7 (4-4). They made it to the Independence Bowl last year despite having a very tough schedule, but lost 24-30 to Alabama. At SBGglobal.com the Colorado Buffaloes’ betting odds ML to win the BCS National Championship game in 2009 are +7500. Some of the key returnees for Colorado include: QB Cody Hawkins, RB Demetrius Sumler, WR Scotty McKnight, S Daniel Dykes, DT George Hypolite, and many more. Even though a 6-7 season is not an ideal one for head coach Dan Hawkins (8-17 at Colorado, 100-40-1 overall), the fact that they were eligible for a Bowl game was quite an accomplishment. However, they must improve from that, moving forward. The Colorado Buffaloes’ betting odds to win the Big 12 Conference in 2008 are +1000. Although last year’s defense wasn’t great –allowing just under 400 yards per game– it was certainly good enough for playing in the Big XII. This upcoming season they will have to replace LB Jordon Dizon, and CB Terrence Wheatley, but other than that, they do have eight starters returning to the program. The betting odds ML for the Colorado Buffaloes to win OVER 6 games in the upcoming 2008 season is -110. QB Cody Hawkins, who last season threw for 3,015 passing yards, must bring his interceptions down this season. Scott McKnight and Josh Smith must step up and become consistent targets for Hawkins to have continued success. The betting odds ML for the Colorado Buffaloes to win UNDER 6 games in the upcoming 2008 season is -120. Texas A&M Aggies Big 12 Conference Preview 2008 College Football Predictions: There’s certainly a lot of buzzing going around about first year Texas A&M head coach, Mike Sherman. Last season the Aggies finished with a 7-6 mark, and were 4-4 against the Big XII. It will interesting to see, how long it would take for this team to get accustomed to their new pro style offense. At SBGglobal.com Texas A&M Aggies’ betting odds ML to win the BCS National Championship game this season is +8000. Key returning players for Texas A&M include: QB Stephen McGee, RB Mike Goodson and Jorvorski Lane, DB Jordan Pugh, DE Cyril Obiozor, and many more. One of the biggest question marks for coach Sherman will be his star player, QB Stephen McGee; and how will he respond to the new system. Last season, McGee threw for 2,311 yards, and rushed for 899 yards. Also at SBGglobal.com the Texas A&M Aggies’ betting odds ML to win the Big 12 Conference in 2008 are +800. It will be interesting to see, what kind of role McGee will have under new management, as they fully intend to use RB Jorvorski Lane (780 yards, 16 TD) frequently. The betting odds ML for Texas A&M Aggies to win OVER 7 games in the upcoming 2008 season is -115. However, problems may arise on the offensive side of the football for Texas A&M, as 4 of last year’s 5 O-line starters are now gone. Another concern on offense for coach Sherman and offensive coordinator Nolan Cromwell is the wide receivers situation. The betting odds ML for Texas A&M Aggies to win UNDER 7 games in the upcoming 2008 season is -115. With the exits of WR Kerry Franks and TE Martellus Bennett, that creates some huge issues that need to be addressed before season starts.
