College Football Predictions 2011 Week 1: The college football goods have awarded pigskin starved fans with two marquee games on the opening Saturday of the season as No. 3 Oregon meets No.4 LSU at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas and No. 5 Boise State faces No. 19 Georgia at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. In a college football predictions 2011 week 1 shocker, neither SEC squad is favored in tonight's two blockbuster showdowns.
Oregon Ducks vs LSU Tigers (+3.5): The 
line on this game has been all over the place due to LSU's off the field woes, but the oddsmakers and betting public have settled, for the time being, on Oregon as a -3.5 against the spread favorite. The Tigers, after starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson's bar fight two weeks ago, will go with Jarret Lee under center. While this does not hurt LSU all that much in the passing game, it could be a problem for the rushing attack. Jefferson ranked second on the team last season in rush yards with 450. The Tigers bigger issue will be containing the Ducks powerful offense, though. Yes, LSU did limit its opposition to an average of 18.2 points per game a season ago, but Oregon can score on any one. Chip Kelly's troops get the cover in this one.
Boise State Broncos vs Georgia Bulldogs (+3): Mark Richt's Bulldogs, despite going 6-7 last season, have quite a bit of hype to live up to. Many are projecting Georgia to unseat defending SEC East champ South Carolina this season and return to double digit wins. Georgia will waste no time getting its first big test as Boise State returns 14 starters, including quarterback Kellen Moore, from a team that went 12-1 a season ago. Certainly the Bulldogs have the athletes to compete with the Broncos, but Chris Petersen's troops know all about winning, particularly against big time competition on a big time stage. Georgia, which does own a softer schedule than the Gamecocks, may well rebound and win the East this year, but it gets off to an 0-1 start tonight.
