LA Angels vs Red Sox MLB 2010 Odds – May 6, 2010: Going for a clean sweep before the Yankees come to town, the (14-14) Boston Red Sox [-125 ML] and the (12-17) Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim [+105 ML] will conclude their series tonight at Fenway Park in Bean Town. This series finale is scheduled to get underway this evening at 7:10 PM ET (4:10 PM PT) live on the MLB Network. The pitching matchup for the series clincher will consist of LHP Scott Kazmir (2-1, 5.57 ERA) taking on RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-1, 11.57 ERA). As a result of this pitching matchup, the OVER/UNDER mark is set at a combined total of 10½ runs scored.
For the Angels, their early season woes continue, as they will try to salvage the final game of this 4-game set from Fenway Park. The Angels have now lost six in a row, are just 4-8 on the road this season and currently occupy the third spot in the American League West. One of the only bright spots for this Halos this season has been their first-year DH, Hideki Matsui.
The Japanese import comes into this game just one run-batted-in away from reaching the 1,500 mark in his professional career, which would be his 611th in the biggs since being brought over by the Yankees in 2003.
"It's certainly something to be proud of," Matsui said. "For that long period of time, you were given that responsibility and were able to fulfill that responsibility. My mindset is I'm ready for every game, whether I'm playing the outfield or DHing."
For Boston, they appear to be turning things around after a slow start, as they’ve finally gotten back to .500. Last night’s victory was particularly more significant for Red Sox skipper, Terry Francona, who reached the 1,000th game as a Boston manager. Francona came over to the Red Sox in 2004.
"Some days, it feels like it's been more," Francona said. "I actually didn't know. I had never even given a thought. I've had a lot of stuff going on and it's been busy."
