General Manager of Professional Baseball Operations for USA Baseball, and Vice President of MLB on-field operations, Bob Watson said in a Wednesday interview, that 7-time CY Young winner Roger Clemens wasn’t welcome to pitch in the upcoming Olympics in Beijing, China. "From my standpoint, we don't need that type of distraction," Watson said of the troubled Clemens. The fine folks at BodogLife.com have prepared the odds every MLB team has of winning the 2008 World Series Championship. These news come after the 45-year old Clemens, publicly apologized (through the Houston Chronicle) for unspecified “mistakes”. Watson who is a former GM for two of Clemens former teams -New York Yankees and the Houston Astros- added: "I have not talked to the commissioner. I have not talked to (MLB chief operating officer) Bob DuPuy, nor have I talked to his agent, but I just think the distraction that he's carrying right now, from my standpoint, we don't need that." Roger Clemens was the most prominent name mentioned on the Mitchell Report. The Rocket has been accused of using performance-enhancing drugs (steroids and HGH) during his professional career, by his former trainer Brian McNamee. His personal life has also become a “relevant” issue in this case. The Rocket has been accused of having several prolonged affairs, including one with a 15-year old child, now turned country singer. Clemens has specifically denied these accusations, as well as his alleged drug use. The real clincher here is: no concrete evidence (of any kind) substantiating these accusations has yet been produced... it is all hearsay. The accusations hold no validity whatsoever, until proven in a court of law… NOT in a court of public opinion. Oddsmakers at BodogLife.com have prepared the odds every team in the Majors has of winning it all in 2008.
