San Diego Padres (13-21) vs. Chicago Cubs (19-14) Baseball Predictions: Losers of five consecutive games, the Padres are off to yet another dreadful start to their season. Winless in their current road trip, the San Diego Padres [+160 ML] look to salvage the final game of the series against the Chicago Cubs [-170 ML] in a game three matinee at Wrigley Field.
For the Cubs, nothing has changed from a year ago, record-wise at least.
After 33 games, the Cubbies hold a 19-14 record, duplicating the exact same mark they had at this point last season.
Chicago’s starter for game 3 this afternoon, RHP Ryan Dempster (2-2, 4.98 ERA) went 14-3 at Wrigley last year. Dempster is off to a terrific home start again this season, as he’s currently unbeaten at home.
After throwing 121 pitches in a losing effort his last start, Dempster looks to get back on track against a struggling Padres team.
"It's pretty frustrating because I feel like I was pitching well for the most part in the game, but unfortunately, they don't ask you to pitch part of the game," Dempster said after losing to Milwaukee. "It's just a lack of execution."
Dempster counterpart this afternoon will be looking for his first win of the season, as the San Diego Padres’ RHP Chad Gaudin (0-2, 4.08 ERA) gets the nod. Gaudin will be making his 4th start of the season, all road games so far.
Sports-Odds Baseball Predictions: [Chicago Cubs -170 ML]
