The first Subway Series of the year will take place this weekend, as the (23-19) New York Yankees [-180] host the Sports Betting Odds underdog (21-22) New York Mets [+160] for game 1 of a three game-series. The Yankees head back home after earning three straight victories on the road and will get set to take on the Mets on Friday night starting at 7:05 PM from Yankee Stadium.

Thursday night the Bronx Bombers defeated the Orioles 13-2, and will hope to continue with theirMets vs Yankees MLB Odds May 20, 2011 offensive success against their crosstown rivals. In their last three wins, the Yankees have hit .318 with four home runs. As for the Mets, they have also been enjoying success on the field, especially on the mound. Thursday’s 1-0 win against Washington was just one of their consecutive shutouts.

Starting things off for the Mets on Friday night will be R.A. Dickey, who is 1-5 with a 5.08 ERA in eight games. Dickey will be pitching against the Yankees for the first time since 2009 when he was with the Twins.

“I just need to keep the ball down,” Dickey said. “Having my knuckleball have that late movement on it I think will really combat a lot of those home runs.”

For the Yankees will be Freddy Garcia (2-3, 3.22 ERA), who has not been doing so well. The right-hander has lost three of his last four starts, with his latest loss to the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. Garcia allowed five runs and two homers that night.

With the MLB enjoying its 15th year of interleague play, the Mets have proven that they have no problem going head to head with the American League. Last year, they went 13-5 while the Yankees finished 11-18 against the National League.
