The Angels and Dodgers will engage in an inter-league rubber match tonight at Dodger Stadium; first pitch in the series finale is scheduled for 10:10p.m. ET. The Angels, who won game one of the series 3-2, are listed as a -140 moneyline favorite in the latest MLB Odds. This evening’s game total is set at 6.5 runs and the Over is drawing -120 odds. The Dodgers are a +130 moneyline play to win their third consecutive series.
The Dodgers snapped a five game home skid last night with a 5-2 win over the Angels. The victory, which evened the series at a game apiece, improved the team’s record to 40-23 and maintained its 4.5 game lead over the Giants in the NL West.
Los Angeles produced just six hits in the win and four of those came from Andre Ethier and Juan Rivera. Ethier and Rivera were also responsible for all five Dodgers runs. Starter Aaron Harang limited the Angels to six hits over seven innings; he did not allow an earned run.
Rookie right hander Nate Eovaldi will look to follow up Harang’s solid effort with one of his own when he takes the hill tonight. Eovaldi has been impressive in three starts this season, allowing just 14 hits and four earned runs in 18.2 innings pitched. He was at his best last Friday, yielding five hits and zero earned runs over six innings in a 0-1 loss to the Mariners. Despite Eovaldi’s early success, the Dodgers are 0-3 in his three starts, losing each contest by just one run.
The Angels will counter Eovaldi with 31 year old southpaw C.J. Wilson. Wilson, who will be making his 14th start of the season tonight, is 7-4 with a 2.39 ERA this season. He last pitched on Friday night, going eight innings in a 7-2 win at Colorado. Wilson allowed just five hits, one earned run, and one walk in the victory; he also struck out nine. The Angels are 5-1 in Wilson’s last six appearances.
MLB Odds Betting Trend: The Angels are 7-3 in their last 10 games as a road favorite with a total between 6 and 7 runs (Under 8-2 in those 10 games).
