tigers miguel cabreraThe Cardinals and Tigers will take to the field for game two of their three game inter-league set tonight at Comerica Park in Detroit. This evening’s ball game, which will be broadcast live on ESPN2, is scheduled to get underway at 7:00pm ET. MLB Odds at Bovada.lv have the hosting Tigers listed as a -125 moneyline favorite while the Cardinals are drawing +105 odds to win tonight’s contest. The Under 10 runs is presently favored at -120 odds.

The Detroit Tigers won their third straight game last night, taking their series opener with the Cardinals 6-3 at Comerica Park. The Tigers, who won their first three inter-league series, had little difficulty getting on base as Quintin Berry, Miguel Cabrera, Delmon Young, and Jhonny Peralta each recorded two hits in the victory.

Detroit knocked around 10 game winner Lance Lynn for nine hits and five earned runs over five innings, which proved more than enough support for Justin Verlander and relievers Benoit and Coke. Verlander allowed just five hits and one earned run in seven innings of work to garner his seventh win of the season.

The Tigers drew within a game of the .500 mark thanks to the win, and, at 33-34, they trail the division leading Indians by just two games in the AL Central standings. For St. Louis, last night’s game marked their third loss in their last four outings. The Cardinals remained 4.5 games back of the Reds in the National League Central, though, thanks to Cincinnati’s 2-3 lost at Cleveland.

The starters in tonight’s game are Rick Porcello and Jake Westbrook. Porcello comes into this evening’s contest with a 4-4 record and 5.18 ERA; he has allowed three or more earned runs in three of his last four outings (22 innings), but the Tigers are 3-1 in those games. Westbrook sports a 5-6 record and 4.27 ERA in 13 starts and he is 1-3 with a 3.65 ERA in six road appearances (.239 batting average against). The Cardinals are 1-6 in Westbrook’s last six outings with the lone win in that stretch coming last Thursday against the White Sox. The 11 year veteran allowed five hits and three earned runs over six innings to record his fifth win of the season.

MLB Picks Betting Trend: Jake Westbrook’s teams are 7-3 straight up in his last 10 starts as a road dog with a moneyline spread between 100 and 120 (Over 7-3 in those same 10 games).
