Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees MLB Betting: The clincher of this 4-game set between the Boston Red Sox (52-38) and the New York Yankees (46-42) from “The Cathedral”, couldn’t possibly have a bigger disparity in the starting pitchers. After 3, the Red Sox lead this series 2-1, as Terry Francona will look to avoid a series-split when he sends the knuckle-baller RHP Tim Wakefield to the mound.

The Yankees can only hope to knot things up in this series, as Joe Girardi will pencil in the hard-throwing RHP Joba Chamberlain. SportsBook.com has the New York Yankees a -158 betting odds favorite to win game 4 against the Boston Red Sox +148.

The Rumble in the Bronx continues with Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN/HD, starting at 8 PM EST from the Big Apple.

After surviving a 9th inning Red Sox rally, the Bronx Bombers hope Joba Chamberlain (2-2, 2.22, 62 K) comes out with good stuff and good control tonight; something he didn’t display in his last start.

The young Native American, Chamberlain, could be experiencing what a lot of young players refer to as “hitting the wall”. Of course we will have to wait and see, how Joba comes out tonight against the dreaded Red Sox.

The Over/Under in this AL East match up between the Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees is set at a combined 8½ total runs.

Chamberlain’s first taste of this rivalry came last season when Joba was a set-up man. Of course everyone remembers the two consecutive 100 mph fastballs that Joba threw at Kevin Youkilis’ head, which earned him an ejection; it should be interesting how the Red Sox react tonight.

From 100 mph balls, to about 60-70 mph comes the Red Sox’s starter Tim Wakefield. Thus far this season Wakefield has a record of 5-6, 3.72 ERA, and 73 Strikeouts.

The key for the a Red Sox victory tonight will be how well Wakefield’s knuckleball is dancing, and how well he can throw it for strikes. In the past certain players like A-Rod have absolutely teed off of Wakefield.
