Brewers vs Braves MLB 2010 Odds – July 15, 2010: The Atlanta Braves [-175 ML] are feeling great after a successful National League win at the 2010 All-Star Game, as well as their cozy spot at the top of the NL East. They will start off the second half of the season against the struggling Milwaukee Brewers [+165 ML] for a four-game series tonight at 7:10 PM ET.
The Braves (52-36) can’t help but feel partially responsible for the NL win at the All-Star game, since one of their very own,
Brian McCann’s three-run double helped bring the 3-1 victory over the AL. “Today was big. And home-field advantage for the World Series is big,” McCann said after the game.
Atlanta finished off the first half of the season winning four of five games, putting them four games ahead the New York Mets. The Braves have added a new member to their already successful team, Alex Gonzalez of the Toronto Blue Jays. The swap sent Yunel Escobar to Toronto on Wednesday. Gonzalez is hitting .259 and has 17 home runs with 50 RBI in 85 games this year.
“He’s an outstanding defensive shortstop and he’s having a very good offensive season,” Frank Wren said. “We think he can improve our run production. He immediately leads our team in home runs.”
Tonight’s starter for the Braves will be Jair Jurrjens. He is 1-3 with a 5.40 ERA , and was sitting on the bench for two months due to a strained hamstring. The Brewers will bring out Dave Bush (4-6, 4.14 ERA), who is feeling great after some great outings. “The last month or so, I’ve had good command and quite honestly, I’m just feeling stronger,” Bush said.
