Tampa Bay Rays vs. New York Yankees: After two devastating losses to two such historical figures in their organization, the New York Yankees start the second half of the season against the Tampa Bay Rays for a three-game series on Friday night at 7:05 PM ET (10:05 PM PT). The Yankees will be honoring the lives of both George Steinbrenner and Bob Sheppard before tonight’s game.

rmer Yankees chairman and principal owner, as well as a moment of silence for both “The Boss” and “The Voice of God”. The team will also be wearing uniform patches for the remainder of the season to commemorate Sheppard who died on Sunday at the age of 99, and Steinbrenner who dies just two days after at the age of 80.
New York comes into the second half with the best record in baseball, and two games ahead of the Rays in the AL East. CC Sabathia will be on the mound tonight, and knows the importance of this second half. "Any time we play Tampa Bay or Boston, it's always going to be huge," Sabathia said. "We're up two games, so it's going to be a big series."
He hopes to become the AL’s first 13-game winner, and is 8-0 (1.81 ERA) in his last eight starts. As for Tampa Bay, they will start with James Shields (7-9, 4.87) whom will hope to better his record against the Yankees. He is currently 2-7 with a 5.54 ERA in his 11 starts against New York.
