by Steve Hastings on Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Chicago Cubs vs Florida Marlins MLB Prediction: Both the Chicago Cubs and the Florida Marlins are coming off 1-2 series losses to the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Atlanta Braves respectively. Tonight, starting at 7:05 pm ET game 1 of this 4-game set kicks off from Wrigley Field in Chi-Town. At BodogLife.com the Chicago Cubs are -210 ML betting odds favorite to take the opener at home against the visiting Florida Marlins (+175).

The Chicago Cubs (59-42) come in leading the NL Central by just 1 game separating them from the 2nd place, red-hot Milwaukee Brewers.

Meanwhile, the Florida Marlins (53-48) come in with a mark of 53-48, that’s 3rd best in the NL East, but are just 1 game out of 1st place.

The Marlins come into tonight’s contest just 1 game below .500 on the road (24-25), while the Cubbies have been unbeatable at home with a 37-12 mark at Wrigley.

The Cubs also got a great boost in their lineup, as All-Star OF Alfonso Soriano came off the DL and was able to play his first game back last night in a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Tonight’s pitching match-up is a bit lopsided in favor of the home team, as RHP Carlos Zambrano (10-4, 2.98) will face-off against LHP Scott Olsen (6-4, 3.84).
