New York Yankees Acquire Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte in Trade with Pittsburgh Pirates

New York Yankees Acquire Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte in Trade with Pittsburgh Pirates: SI.com are the first to report that New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman has pulled the trigger on a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates, which would send OF Xavier Nady, and Reliever (LHP) Damaso Marte to New York, in exchange for 4 minor league prospects.

Although, according to SI.com the trade has already been agreed to, but nothing will become official until all the involved parties are cleared by the doctors.

Nady who was drafted in 2000 by the San Diego Padres, has slowly been evolving into a power threat. Xavier Nady’s contract will not expire until the end of the 2009 season.

Thus far this season the right-handed, Xavier Nady is batting .330, with 13 long balls, 57 RBI, and 1 stolen base.

The other big acquisition for the Yankees is the RHP Damaso Marte. The LHP Marte is great out of the bullpen, with an explosive arm, and possesses Set up and closer experience.

Currently in his 9th year in the majors, Marte has already made 47 appearances this season. Thus far in 46.2 innings of work, Marte has a very impressive record of 4-0, along with an ERA of 3.47, 47 strikeouts, and 5 saves.
