Free MLB Prediction: Boston Red Sox vs LA Angels of Anaheim

by Abe Luciano on Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Free MLB Prediction Boston Red Sox (61-46) vs. LA Angels of Anaheim (65-40): With the MLB trading deadline approaching (Thursday), and with all the speculation surrounding the ever-imposing Manny Ramirez, the LA Angles seem to be one of the only teams that could possibly make Theo Epstein an offer he can't refuse. But for now, Manny Ramirez remains with the Boston Red Sox.

Game 1 belonged to the Angels. Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday starting at 7:05 pm ET from Fenway Park in Boston, Mass. In game 2, the Boston Red Sox are -133 betting odds (ML) favorites against the LA Angels of Anaheim (+103) at BetOnline.com.

The halos have certainly had the Red Sox number this season, as they took the opener at Fenway. The Angels have now won 4 straight against Boston (a 3-game sweep in Anaheim, and Monday night).

In last night’s game 1, the halos gave the World Champs a taste of their won medicine with the lumber. The OVER/UNDER in this Free MLB Prediction: Boston Red Sox vs. LA Angels of Anaheim has been set at a total of 9 runs.

The California Angels, who have been classified as a team that plays “small ball”, showed the Sox last night that they are capable of playing hardball with the big boys. In the 6th inning, and with the game still up for grabs, Casey Kotchman and Tori Hunter went yard into the Boston night. When it was over, the halos had hung 6 runs in the 6th, 5 of which were sparked by Kotchman's and Hunter’s blasts. The Halos went on to win the game by a final score of 7-5.

After the game, a very vocal Tori Hunter addressed the media: “We’re just showing we can play this game… We still don’t think we get the respect we deserve, no respect… you’re going to learn to respect us one day.”

Here’s Tonight’s pitching match up,

(BOS) RHP Clay Buchholtz (2-5, 5.81 ERA): Buchholtz currently has the worse ERA in the Red Sox rotation. However, he did show some signs of improvements in his last start, going 5 1/3 IP, allowing 7 hits and 3 ER against the Seattle Mariners.

(LAA) RHP John Lackey (8-2, 3.02): lackey is coming off a bad outing against the Cleveland Indians (6 ER and 8 H in 5 IP), yet still managed to get the W.
