Pirates, Phillies Duel In Philadelphia, the Pittsburgh Pirates are doing exactly what everyone predicted they would do: mail it in.

The Pirates have had 15 consecutive losing seasons and will be making it 16 very shortly. They have a solid losing record already and with just over a quarter of the season remaining, here is nothing stopping the Pirates from tying the record for 16 consecutive losing seasons, which is the longest among the four major sports.

On Saturday, the Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies will play in the second game of their three-game series as Ian Snell will matchup against Brett Myers on the hill.

Snell has been a huge disappointment this year. After winning 22 games over the last two seasons posting an ERA of 3.76 in 2007, Snell has a 4-8 record with a 6.14 ERA this year. His WHIP is a ridiculous 1.90, which means he's allowed nearly two base runners per inning.

As bad as that is, Snell has been even worse since the start of June. In the 51.2 innings pitched in that span, Snell has allowed 40 earned runs (7.03 ERA). He's also allowed a combined 106 walks and hits in those 51.2 innings pitched, which puts his WHIP at 2.07.

Snell will face Myers , who has pitched respectably since his call up from the minors.

In 28 innings of work, Myers has given up only five earned runs. In the month of June, Myers gave up 21 earned runs in 28.1 innings pitched (6.73 ERA).

Another positive sign has been the fact Myers' last three starts have come on the road. As respectable as he's been in those three starts, if you combine them with his previous ugly road starts this year, his ERA is still 6.61 . That goes to show how terrible he was away from home to start the year.

Myers has walked only one batter in his last 13 innings pitched, which shows he has his control back. He will be making his first home start since being called up.
