Boston Red Sox Josh Beckett Arm Injury: On Tuesday, August 26, the biggest rivalry in sports is renewed, as the Boston Red Sox travel to the “Cathedral of Baseball” (perhaps for the last time, ever) to take on the New York Yankees in a 3-game set. However, one player that will not be taking part in the oldest rivalry in sports is Boston's RHP Josh Beckett.

In Sunday's game agaist the MLB Betting underdogs Toronto Blue Jays (+120), the Boston Red Sox are (-140) betting odds favorites to win, and the OVER/UNDER has been set at a combined total of 8.5 runs.

The Red Sox ace was scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday, but was unable to, do to ongoing numbness and tingling in his pitching arm.

Red Sox manager, Terry Francona, told the media that Beckett had inflammation in his (right) elbow, and will likely make his next start in Friday’s (August 29th) opener against the Chicago White Sox at Fenway Park.

“We’re talking about a guy’s pitching arm... let’s make sure it’s perfect,” said an overly cautious, Francona.

Beckett expressed that they decided to push yet another one of his starts back, after he felt numbness in his hand on Friday: “It’s gotten better. We had the one day (Friday) when it kind of came back. That’s when we decided to do what we did. It has gotten better. The treatment and stuff is definitely working.”
