MLB Prediction Chicago Cubs (84-50) vs Philadelphia Phillies (73-61): The team with the best record in baseball continues to play as such. The Chicago Cubs have now won 6 straight, and 8 of their last 10 games, pushing their home mark to 50-19. With Carlos Zambrano, Rich Harden, and Ted Lilly anchoring the pitching, and Alfonso Soriano, Aramis Ramirez, and Derek Lee leading the offensive attack, the Cubbies look great heading into September.

In this afternoon’s (2:20 PM ET) game 2 of 4 at Wrigley, the Chicago Cubs are -260 betting odds favorites to beat the visiting Philadelphia Phillies (+220) at SportsBook.com.

In Friday’s matinee, two ex-Oakland A’s pitchers will battle each other, as the sensational RHP Rich Harden (9-2, 2.00 ERA) faces his old friend RHP Joe Blanton (6-12, 4.75 ERA).

Just about two months ago, these starting righties were sharing the mound in the Bay Area. Friday, they’ll once again be sharing the hill, but this time against each other.

“It’s always fun pitching against guys I used to play with, your friends… you want to see him do well, but at the same time, you want to win,” Rich harden expressed in an interview. Since being shipped from the west coast to Chi-Town, Harden is 4-1, with a 1.47 ERA, 14 basses on balls, and 70 punch-outs.

For the Phillies, they have now lost 2 in a row, thus, falling 1 game behind the New York Mets for the top spot in the National League East. But help is on the way for the Phils, as reports as now circulating that they have landed IF/OF Matt Stairs (LHB) from the Toronto Blue Jays.
