Cardinals at Brewers Odds 2011 NLCS Predictions Game 6

by John Day on Sunday, October 16th, 2011

Cardinals vs. Brewers Odds 2011 NLCS Predictions Game 6: The first club to win four games wins the National League Championship Series and right now, the St. Louis Cardinals have the Milwaukee Brewers on the brink of elimination leading 3-to-2. In games one and two in Milwaukee, the Cardinals earned a split then took 2-of-3 in St. Louis. Now the series returns to Milwaukee for today's Game-6 and if needed Game-7 on Monday. The Cardinals only need one victory to advance and have two games to do it. The story isn't so rosy for the Brewers, now the MLB Odds underdog; they must win both. Looking to salvage the Brewers season will be right-hander Shaun Marcum while Edwin Jackson, also a right-hander, gets the call for the Cardinals. The winner of the NLCS will advance to the 2011 World Series to play the Texas Rangers who defeated the Detroit Tigers in six game of the ALCS.

Cardinals at Brewers Odds 2011 NLCS Predictions Game 6With Marcum and Jackson pitching; oddsmakers at BetOnline.com list the Brewers as slight -125 moneyline favorites on the offshore MLB board with a combined run total (over/under) of 8 1/2. As underdogs, Cardinals' backers are getting +115 ML odds.

Now that Milwaukee is hanging on for dear-life, the question arises. Is the clubs pitching staff up to the task? Today's starter Shaun Markham, no better than the third or fourth best pitcher in the Brewers rotation, lasted four innings in Game-2, hammered by the Cardinals for five runs on five hits including a home run. In two 2011 postseason games, Marcum is 0-2 with a 12.46 ERA. In the regular season, Marcum had a good year going 13-7 with a 3.54 ERA. There's no doubt, Marcum is getting the today's start primarily because no other starter has had enough rest.  Fans can be certain that Marcum will be on a short leash. If he gets in early trouble, Manager Ron Roenicke go to his bull pen.

The Brewers have seen quite a bit of Jackson, but for the most part haven't figured him out. They get one  more shot at him in game six, as he looks to make it 12 times out of 15 as a Cardinal that he's allowed fewer than three runs. Jackson has one win in two post season starts, his victory coming against the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS. As starting pitcher Jackson is 1-0 with a 3.48 ERA. Jackson went 12-9 in the regular season that was split between the Chicago White Sox and Cardinals. Jackson was acquired by St. Louis in a trade last July.

If the Brewers win Game-6, they will face Cardinals ace right-hander Chris Carpenter who was credited with the win in Game-3 in spite of a marginal performance. The Brewers have yet to determine who their Game-7 starter will be if the need arises.

The Cardinals were 7-1 winners in Game-5 at Busch Stadium on Friday allowing backers to collect as -120 favorites. The combined 8-runs scored sent total OVER the posted 7.0.

The Brewers were a 7-1 loser in their most recent outing on the road against the Cardinals. That made winners of bettors who got St. Louis at -120 on the moneyline, while the total score (8) was good news for OVER bettors. Get $50 in Free MLB Picks Here.
