But the San Francisco ace was not at his best either that night. Lincecum gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings. His record for the postseason is now at 3-1 with a 2.83 ERA in four starts.
Last night, in Game 4, Josh Hamilton and Vladimir Guerrero together had seven hitless at-bats. This is mostly because of the intense performance by Madison Bumgarner. The rookie was in complete control for eight innings, giving up three hits with six strike-outs.
Bumgarner and Buster Posey became the first rookie battery to start in the World Series since 1947, when Yogi Berra and Spec Shea completed the same feat with the Yankees.
The Texas Rangers now have a very important game on the line, and no one knows it better than manager Ron Washington, and his hopes now lie on Cliff Lee and his offense.
