2010 World Series: Giants vs Rangers Game 5 Predictions, Picks & Odds: The (3-1) San Francisco Giants [+153 ML] are at the brink of earning their first World Series championship in 56 years, as they take on the (1-3) Texas Rangers [-168 ML] in Game 5. It will be a Game 1 reunion for the two starting aces on Monday night. Tim Lincecum and Cliff Lee will go head to head once again, and the young two-time Cy Young winner will try to close things out once again.

In Game 1, Lincecum and the Giants ended Lee’s dominating postseason run. Before last Wednesday, Lee entered the World Series 7-0 with a 1.26 ERA in eight career post starts. That night, he allowed seven runs in 4 2/3 innings, as the Rangers lost 11-7. But Lee is ready to take on San Francisco, and is using Game 1’s loss as motivation.

“This time, I get a chance to redeem myself against the team that actually put it to me pretty good last time,” Lee said. “I’m looking forward to it. I’ve been working hard and ready for – it’s basically the last start of the season for me – and I want to do everything I can to help this team win the World Series.”

But the San Francisco ace was not at his best either that night. Lincecum gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings. His record for the postseason is now at 3-1 with a 2.83 ERA in four starts.

Last night, in Game 4, Josh Hamilton and Vladimir Guerrero together had seven hitless at-bats. This is mostly because of the intense performance by Madison Bumgarner. The rookie was in complete control for eight innings, giving up three hits with six strike-outs.

Bumgarner and Buster Posey became the first rookie battery to start in the World Series since 1947, when Yogi Berra and Spec Shea completed the same feat with the Yankees.

The Texas Rangers now have a very important game on the line, and no one knows it better than manager Ron Washington, and his hopes now lie on Cliff Lee and his offense.
