Minnesota Twins (76-60) vs Oakland Athletics (63-73) MLB Preview: The Minnesota Twins are coming off a heartbreaking 2-3 loss at the hands of a sub par Oakland A’s team. With the A’s having zero hopes of playing in October, they have now taken on the role of spoilers, and have embraced it. Oakland, a team who currently is 10 games below .500, has now taken 2 out of the first 3 against a Minnesota Twins team that's in the midst of a pennant race. Tonight, in the series clincher, the Minnesota Twins are -140 betting odds favorites against the Oakland A’s (+115) at BetUS.com. The Twins have perhaps one of the most dominant closers in the game today in Joe Nathan. With a 2-1 Twins lead in the bottom of the 9th of last night’s ballgame, Nathan took the mound looking for the save. But no one could have predicted what happened next, as Nathan began to fall apart. A’s SS Bobby Crosby, led the inning off with a base hit to left-center. Nathan uncharacteristically hit Emil Brown, to put runners on first and second with no outs. And then Nathan literally threw the game away, as Ryan Sweeney was trying to but the runners over, and the close attempted a throw to third that sailed into the outfield. Tonight, starting at 4:05 PM ET, the Twins RHP Scott Baker (7-4, 3.75 ERA, 134.1 IP, 31 BB, 110 K), faces off against the A’s LHP Greg Smith (6-13, 3.90 ERA, 154.2 IP, 72 BB, 95 K). The OVER/UNDER in this Minnesota Twins vs Oakland Athletics MLB Preview has been set at a total of 8 runs. The Minnesota Twins vs Oakland Athletics MLB Preview betting odds spread is Minnesota Twins -1½(+120) vs. Oakland A’s +1½(-140). |

Toronto Blue Jays (69-66) at New York Yankees (72-63) MLB Prediction: The New York Yankees find themselves in a situation where every game is a critical must-win. Nevertheless, in yesterday's middle game in the Bronx, they basically gave one away to the Toronto Blue Jays. With a heroic pitching effort from RHP Darrell Rasner, the Yanks seems well on their way to a game 2 win, until 2B Robinson Cano’s error opened the door for the Jays, and they walked right through it. In Sunday’s 1 PM ET Game 3, the New York Yankees are -115 betting odds favorites against the Toronto Blue Jays (-105), at SportsBook.com. “I think he might have gotten a little to far away to try to do the little shovel pass there,” said captain SS Derek Jeter of Cano’s throwing error. With the score 6-2 and Darrell Rasner cruising, Yankees manager, Joe Girardi, sent Rasner out to pitch the 7th. After a leadoff single, Lyle Overbay axed a ground ball to New York’s second baseman. In what seemed like a routine 4-6-3 (double play), Cano’s almost lazy-style betrayed him in the worse possible scenario. The Jay’s rallied to win the game, after a late 4-run lead evaporated just like that. This afternoon, the bombers will need to put that heart breaking loss behind them, and try to win this series in the clincher. However, that’s easier said than done, as they face a guy having yet another Cy Young season. The Blue Jays RHP Roy Halladay (16-9, 2.69 ERA) has been a force on the mound. Tallying 204 innings, 8 complete games, and 2 shutouts thus far in 08, Halladay is almost unbeatable. LHP Andy Pettitte (13-10, 4.37 ERA) must have a stellar effort out there, to be able to compete with this monster, as the Yankees need to win the rubber game of this series. |

Flailing Rangers face Angels, the Los Angeles Angels are in cruise control and on Saturday, they will keep on plugging away as the meager Texas Rangers come to town. The Angels are locked into the postseason and should be a World Series favorite once the playoffs start but for, those who bet on baseball know they are just doing some light jogging to stay in shape. MLB oddsmakers at Betonline.com currently have the Los Angeles Angles at -190 betting odds vs Texas Rangers (+175) heading into this MLB picks matchup. The Rangers will send Scott Feldman to the mound and he's been a stiff for them all season long. Not that the expectations were high but Feldman is only 5-5 with a 5.01 ERA this year. On the plus side, he has been fairly decent this month outside of one start. When you subtract his start against the Boston Red Sox in which he allowed six earned runs in 2.2 innings pitched, Feldman has given up only 10 earned runs in his other 25.1 innings pitched (3.58 ERA). Feldman has started once against the Angels this season and was beaten up like a pinata. He allowed eight earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched, which puts his ERA at a whopping 19.64 against the Angels. He also allowed six hits and five walks. He'll face Jered Weaver, who has fared much better against the Rangers. Weaver has started two games against Texas this season, last 13 innings and given up just one earned run. He's 1-0 in those starts with a 0.92 WHIP. Weaver has been solid in his last three outings after starting the month of August poorly. In his first two starts he gave up 11 earned runs in 11 innings pitched but has permitted just seven earned runs in his last 18.1 innings pitched. Those who are betting on baseball have noticed that the Angels have taken their foot off the gas but they should still have an easy time with the Rangers. New York Yankees (71-62) vs Toronto Blue Jays (68-65) MLB Prediction: The New York Yankees are going to need a lot more heroic efforts, such as the one in yesterday’s game against the Boston Red Sox, in order to keep their postseason hopes alive. In what seems like an impossible feat, the Yanks have to take it one game at a time from here on out. First up, its the Toronto Blue Jays. At BetUS.com, the Toronto Blue Jays are –120 betting odds favorites against the New York Yankees (+100) in game 1 of their series. This American League East showdown has a scheduled first pitch of 7:05 PM ET from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. New York is currently 10.5 behind in the division, and 6 behind in the AL Wild Card. In their last series with the Red Sox, timely hitting was the biggest problems for the Bombers. They just couldn’t capitalize with runners in scoring position. In yesterday’s game 3, 1B Jason Giambi came off the bench and emerged as the hero, in a 3-2 win. Giambi blasted a pinch-hit homerun to dead center with a runner on base to tie things up at 2-2. In the bottom of the 9th and with the basses juiced, the Giambino once again stepped up and delivered the game-winning hit: “I was hoping to get a chance to play a part in this ballgame… it ended like it should against the Red Sox, coming down to the last out.” Tonight, the Bronx Bombers are going to need everyone to step up, as the Blue Jay’s hard-throwing ace A.J. Burnett (16-9, 4.58 ERA) takes the mound against RHP Carl Pavano (1-0, 5.40 ERA). The OVER/UNDER for this New York Yankees vs Toronto Blue Jays MLB Prediction, has been set at a combined total of 9 runs. White Sox travel to Fenway for key series, the Chicago White Sox are barely clinging to their slim lead in the American League Central while the Boston Red Sox are trying to make up ground in the American League East. MLB oddsmakers at Betonline.com currently have the Chicago White Sox at +165 betting odds favorites vs Boston Red Sox (-183) heading into this MLB picks matchup. Those who bet on baseball know that these two division will go down to the wire, which makes the contest on Friday that much more valuable. The White Sox will send Javier Vazquez to the hill and he's been up and down this month. He's started five games in August and has allowed a combined nine runs in his two bad starts but allowed three runs in his other three starts. Not surprisingly, he's 3-2 this month. Vazquez has been more efficient pitching at home this year. He's 6-4 with a 4.11 ERA at U.S. Celullar Field and just 4-6 with a 4.55 ERA away from it. Opposing hitters are batting .285 against him on the road. Overall, Vazquez has been more reliable in the later parts of the season and has a 3.56 ERA since the All-Star break. He'll face Josh Beckett, who is the team ace for the Red Sox. He has been having some problems with his pitching arm and missed his last start. Beckett has really struggled since the All-Star break and hasn't been in his typically stellar form. Entering the All-Star break, Beckett was 9-5 with a 3.94 ERA. Since that time he's just 2-4 with a 5.55 ERA. Opposing hitters are batting .314 against him. He's started one game against the White Sox this season, pitching eight innings and allowing only one earned run. For more props and odds, visit BetOnline.com.
