Georgia at Florida 2012 College Basketball Picks: The 19th ranked Florida Gators look to rebound from a dismal performance last Saturday in their Southeastern Conference opener at Tennessee, when they return home to play the Georgia Bulldogs Tuesday. The Gators (12-4 SU, 6-5 ATS) lost to the Volunteers by the score of 56-67, failing to cover the point spread as 7 1/2-chalk favorites. The Bulldogs (9-6 SU, 5-6 ATS) did not fare any better in their conference opener losing by 15 at home to Alabama as +6 1/2 point underdogs. Tuesday’s game is set to tip-off at 7:00 pm ET and will be televised on ESPN.
The Gators are expected to win big against the Bulldogs, favored by -15 College Basketball Odds at online sportsbook BetOnline.com with a combined score total (over/under) of -110. Bulldogs backers are getting +1040 on the offshore moneyline to win SU while the price of a SU wager on Florida would be expensive, giving $1,500 to win $100 (-1500).
Saturday’s home loss to Alabama ended a five game winning streak for Georgia, although all five of those wins came against questionable competition. Prior to the streak, the Bulldogs lost four of six, all losses to major programs but in that span did pick up wins over Southern California and Notre Dame. Only against Xavier were the Bulldogs underdogs by double-digits (+10 1/2), but lost by 14, 56-70. The Dogs were also SU losers to California (+6) Colorado (+3 1/2), Georgia Tech (-4).
The Gators seldom lose at home as their current 12-0 record for this season indicates. Against the spread at home the Gators are 4-3 while the Bulldogs have gone 2-1 ATS on the road.
Game Prediction: Both teams will be out to prove to backers they are better than last Saturday’s performances, however, Georgia is attempting to re-establish its program while the Gators are expected to be among the nations elite. Florida will return to O’Connell Center in Gainesville with fire in their eyes. The Gators win tonight and cover the 15-chalk as favorites. My Pick – Gators -15.
